Follow these tips to ensure the safest and best use of a space heater:

1. Keep the heater at least three feet from flammable items such as curtains, furniture, or bedspreads.

2. When buying a space heater, choose one that has been tested and certified by a nationally recognized testing institution.

3. Buy a heater that can handle the area you want to heat.

4. Read and follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions.

5. Keep children and pets away from the space heater.

6. Never go to sleep with the space heater on.

7. Never use or store flammable liquids near the space heater.

8. Keep away from water to prevent electrocution.

9. Do not use an extension cord.

10. Do not use the space heater to dry clothes.

Along with these tips always use common sense when using a space heater.  Space heaters are great when used for short periods of time and for a targeted reason.

Quality Name Brands Strengthen the Modular Home Image

Filed Under News · Tagged:

As most of us know the winter months in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota can be challenging.  Shoveling snow, scrapping ice and thawing out toes take up much of your time and maintenance on your home shouldn’t be one of these items.

Quality name brand products not only make your home beautiful, but also more durable through the extreme cold winter season.  Names like Owens Corning shingles and insulation, Pella vinyl windows, Georgia Pacific and Craneboard siding are among the many quality products in the Friendship modular home that keep your worries away from home maintenance.  These products also carry second to none warranties to assure if you did have any issues they would be covered.

When it comes to purchasing your new home make sure you go with quality.  As the saying goes, “The bitterness of poor workmanship and quality remain long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.”

Modular Homeowners will be Affected by New Law

Filed Under News · Tagged:

Starting May 1, 2013 Minnesota and North Dakota modular homeowners will be affected by a federal furnace efficiency law.  This is important to those that have lived in their modular home for several years and may have an older furnace.

Here is generally how the new law will work. Any furnace you have replaced or installed after May 1, 2013 will require a 90% or better efficiency furnace. The installation of these furnaces will also require a PVC flue or chimney liner to be installed for safe venting. The rule applies to all 29 Northern states. The Department of Energy is enforcing the law in order to reduce the impact on our atmosphere and environment.

These requirements for the furnace and venting can really add up and may take some time to have replaced.  Being proactive with a furnace replacement may save you a lot of money in the future.   Call your local plumbing/heating professional for more information and benefits.

So you just got married, living in Minnesota or North Dakota and are planning to start a family.  Many thoughts go through your head such as how many children, where do we want to start our life together and what size of a home will we need.

With the increasing rent and lower apartment occupancies in Minnesota, North Dakota and surrounding states the modular or manufactured home option has been increasingly popular for starter and even long term housing options.  The focus behind this industry is to make it an easy and quick process, maximizing your options by offering the most popular colors and options (making decisions easier), but also with a contemporary look for both exterior and interior options.  This creates a stress free environment when making your home decision.

This quicker modular or manufactured home process can save you up to 30% versus site building.  This amount can add up in a hurry and can assist in keeping within your budget.  As many say “we don’t want to be house poor”.  This savings can keep your mortgage payment lower allowing the freedom to do other things such as travel, automobiles and investments.

Moving into New Modular Home

Summer in Minnesota and North Dakota is a popular time people finish their new modular home project and the final piece is the move.  Most people don’t enjoy moving, so here are some tips to ensure a successful move.

Technology is a big part of our lives and it is important you plan your living room to accommodate not only the television, but other devices as well.  Make sure you plan ahead and contact your phone, internet and cable/satellite companies.  If scheduled properly all these items can be up and running before you move in.

Moving time is also a great opportunity to discard old and unused items such as furniture, clothing and garage items.  This is the best time to discard these items as they need to be moved out anyways.

When it comes to unpacking it is recommended you bring in the larger furniture like dressers and other storage pieces first, so when unpacking you can put items in the designated spot.  This method will really speed up the unpacking time.

Use these tips to move efficiently and stress free.
